Fancy escaping the city for a calmcation?
Havila Voyages launches world’s first noise forecast comparing London to other major cities and Norwegian coastal region
Escape noise levels of 78db in London, for 38db in Geirangerfjord
We’ve had slow travel, staycations, detox holidays and coolcations - now Havila Voyages, a cruise line operating along the coast of Norway, is reporting the rise of the calmcation.
With research from the World Health Organisation showing the direct correlation between sound pollution and health, the cruise line has launched the world’s
first ever noise forecastto show how Norway is the perfect location to step away from the noise of our everyday lives, full of traffic, machinery, background music and smartphones.
The company has placed sound measurement stations at several locations along the Norwegian coast and launched a new web page which includes a live feed showing current noise levels and how they compare to statistical data from cities around the world. Average figures for Vauxhall in London show as 78db, while Vardo in Norway had live sound levels this morning (2 December) of 44db. Times Square in New York averages 86 db.
A
new spotify playlist of soothing soundscapes recorded in rural Norway has been launched to help anxious Brits relax after a stressful day at work. With sounds including horseback riding on the beach in Lofoten and birds singing by the river in Øye, listeners can enjoy a noise detox designed to boost their immune system and improve their overall health.
Havila Voyages’ battery powered ships are the base for the perfect calmcation, as they sail silently and emission free for up to four hours at a time through Norway’s UNESCO protected fjords. The coastal areas, particularly in the fjords, are naturally sheltered from urban and industrial noise with rugged cliffs, deep fjords, and remote islands creating natural sound barriers and preserving the quiet. The country also has strict noise pollution regulations in many areas, especially around natural sites and protected landscapes, helping to preserve the quiet coastal environment for locals and visitors alike.
An 11 night Round Voyage from Bergen to Kirkenes, back to Bergen costs from £1,355 on full board basis on a choice of departure dates in January 2025, based on two sharing an inside cabin. Flights are not included.

These curated experiences celebrate the heritage, traditions and cultures of the Black community in international destinations rich with African history. Magic of Colombia
Black history in Colombia is rich and complex, defined by the interplay of slavery, resistance, and cultural preservation. Cartagena, the heart of this history, is the last port of call of AmaWaterways’ seven-night Magic of Colombia sailing on the Magdalena River.
Both Colombia and the 60-guest AmaMagdalena are new for AmaWaterways in 2025, so guests on this 18thOctober, 2025 sailing will be among the first to take in the rich history and culture of this often-overlooked part of the world. Every day is an education of Latin American musical styles including cumbia and vallenato, and exciting performances at a colourful Carnaval in Barranquilla (AmaWaterways exclusive). Stops in Nueva Venecia, Santa Barbara de Ponto, Mompox, El Banco and Calamar offer tours of stilt houses, jazz street performances, exploration of Cienága Pijiño (known for its diverse bird life), and a tour of Getsemaní - a colourful neighborhood in Cartagena, known for its street art, bars, restaurants, and cafes. Three-night land packages are offered pre- and/or post-cruise in Medellín or Panama.
Colours of Provence
France has a rich history of Black culture, art, and history, and AmaWaterways’ 10-night Colours of Provence opens the doors to much of it. The cruise on the award-winning AmaKristina departs 21st August 2025, sailing from Arles to Lyon before spending three nights in Paris, a city steeped in the history of famous Black artists, writers and entertainers. In Avignon, guests visit the Blachère Foundation, which promotes the contemporary creation of artists from Africa and its diaspora; a truffle farm in Viviers; and Roman ruins in Vienne. They also partake in an evening wine and chocolate experience, jazz performance, steam train ride and a tasting tour at Lyon’s Les Halles Market. Highlights in Paris include the Arc de Triomphe, the Monument to the Abolition of Slavery, and insights into the Code Noir (the decree that defined the conditions of slavery conduct until 1789). Guests explore Montmartre's jazz roots, visit Little Africa in La Goutte d’or, and end with the Latin Quarter and Pantheon Square's tribute to Josephine Baker from 2021.
Enticing Douro
Lisbon has a rich history of African and Black presence. The city was home to a significant population of free Africans, played a key role in the transatlantic slave trade, and was the site of Europe’s first African neighborhood. AmaWaterways’ 10-night Enticing Douro (departing 14th November 2025) includes three nights in Lisbon followed by a seven-night sailing along Portugal’s Douro River on board the 102-passenger AmaSintra. The Douro is known for some of Europe’s most beautiful scenery, great wines and foods, and friendly people. In Lisbon, guests tour “City of Seven Hills”; and the Royal Sintra – Portugal’s best-preserved medieval royal residence. Along the journey, guests are treated to exclusive Brazilian and African food tastings and authentic Portuguese cuisine and port wines during two shoreside dinners at local wine estates, known as quintas. All while taking in the mournful sounds of fado music.
Secrets of Egypt & The Nile
The 11-night immersive sailing on AmaDahlia, departing from Cairo on 14th May 2025, offers guests an exceptional journey of discovery and is aptly named Secrets of Egypt & The Nile. The programme begins with three nights in the vibrant city of Cairo, where guests will tour the Egyptian Museum (featuring King Tut’s treasures), the Alabaster Mosque, and the ancient pyramids of Memphis. The exploration continues to Luxor for a seven-night Nile cruise aboard the luxurious 72-passenger AmaDahlia. Stops in Edfu, Aswan, Esna, Kom Ombo and Qena allow for exclusive access to the tomb of Queen Nefertari on a private tour, a private lunch at the Abdeen Presidential Palace, and a visit to a Nubian village where the people who live there carry on the traditions of their ancient African roots, considered one of the earliest cradles of civilization. Daily tours and onboard experiences illuminate the rich African history of the region and its culinary delights.
The seven night Soulful Experience – Magic Of Colombia (Barranquilla to Cartagena) cost from £5,206 per person including overseas flights from London or Manchester and transfers.

Press play to see Saga Cruises' new TV ad ...
Dispelling the myths of growing older…
Saga Cruises’ new TV ad is one big wry smile, from the over 50s generation having all the fun.
Cruising – what springs to mind?
Saga’s new TV ad busts common misconceptions about cruising that it’s all afternoon naps and buffet food. The ad – which premiered on September 2 called ‘You’re Still Not Wrong’ is a follow on from the ‘You’re Not Wrong’ 2021 Saga Holidays ad, challenging people’s ideas about what older people are getting up to on cruise ships.
The main character, once again played by British actor Nicholas Farrell (The Crown, Torchwood), starts with a raised eyebrow, and wry commentary on the cliches of what older people do when they’re on a cruise.
The ad is set aboard the sleek backdrop of Saga’s ocean cruise ship, Spirit of Adventure. It kicks off with al fresco, group-yoga and ends on the stylish sun deck with a plink, plonk of an afternoon G&T (all included in the price). Farrell is his sardonic best, with lines like, “You probably think we spend all day with our feet up…” or, “You think the only thing we’ll eat is meat and two veg” – all the while, juxtaposed with the cast dining on speciality world cuisines, or carnival scenes in exotic locations. It’s very much about the boutique cruise for those who want both fun and luxury, with the final titles reading: “Saga Cruise is everything you probably thought it would be…and more.”
Focusing mainly on the magic and luxury aboard the ship, the ad is also peppered with vibrant ashore experiences, filled with energy, adventure… and not a whole lot of snoozing.
Saga’s new messaging is clear - a Saga Cruise is as stimulating, or as blissfully chilled-out, as you want it to be. There are included talks, craft and art classes, tutorials from the likes of wine expert Oz Clarke to wildlife experts, and various types of included shore excursions. Add on the gym, with exercise classes with Derrick Errol Evans MBE, aka Mr Motivator, wellness and foodie classes, and the biggest issue people will have is what to pick!
Hannah Fisher, Chief Marketing Officer, said: “This ad really challenges perceptions of cruising as ‘old-fashioned’ and is very much focused on people who, as they age, live a life very different to how their parents did. It showcases an array of what we have on offer, such as fine dining, health and fitness classes and a general sense of the good life. All-inclusive boutique luxury, all under one roof.”
The new ad is accompanied by social, digital and print advertising campaigns and you can watch it by pressing play on the picture above. For more information on Saga’s range of new cruises for the 2025 season, see Saga.co.uk/2025
Three Years Later, Virgin Voyages Sails Newest Ship Into British Port That Started It All
Resilient Lady, the newest ship in Virgin Voyages’ award-winning fleet, arrived in Portsmouth a short time ago for her inaugural UK season following a summer of island-hopping through the Greek Isles. From Pompey, she’ll set sail on a collection of late summer, sun-soaked voyages to Amsterdam, Bruges, Lisbon and beyond.
Now Virgin Voyages newest ship is easily accessible to all UK Sailors. A short drive or straightforward train journey is all that's needed to get to Portsmouth, making it the perfect escape for Sailors looking to enjoy a fuss-free, last-minute escape from the choppy weather of late.
Following her sister ships, Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady is heading back to where the brand launched in 2021: Portsmouth International Port. She’ll be visiting the cultural capitals of Amsterdam and Bruges, as well as the picturesque shores of Lisbon, Bordeaux and Casablanca. And it wouldn’t be a Virgin Voyages experience without a stop in Ibiza, the final part of an incredible 12-night sailing from the UK to Spain and Morocco.
What’s more, Virgin Voyages is bringing back its (now sold out) Virgin Celebration Voyage after a roaring success last year. This special experience will see Sir Richard Branson, Boy George and Virgin Galactic astronauts onboard for a series of exclusive events. Shane Riley, Vice President of UK and International Sales at Virgin Voyages said: “We’re back in British waters once again, this time with a variety of short cultural stints and sunny adventure sailings to help Sailors escape the British weather. We first set sail from Portsmouth on our maiden voyage back in 2021, so we’re delighted to return this September and October.”
Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council said: “We’re so pleased Virgin Voyages is coming back for a third time with the incredible Resilient Lady. We’re also proud to be the first – and only – port in the world to have welcomed all three Virgin Voyages ships. As a council-owned port this has huge economic significance for the city, and with our aim to be the first port of call for luxury, boutique and expedition cruise lines in the UK, we look forward to welcoming the award-winning cruise ship to her new home.”
Resilient Lady will embark on three to six-night roundtrip getaways, as well as a 12-night adventure to Barcelona. Check out Resilient Lady’s summer schedule below - there’s still plenty of time to pencil an epic getaway into the diary.

“Windstar’s All-Inclusive upgrade is £73 per person per day, so the savings of this inclusion were already significant,” explains Windstar’s Chief Commercial Officer Janet Bava. “But now guests can enjoy the all-inclusive offer AND these additional perks on hundreds of departures in Windstar’s collection including itineraries across French Polynesia, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.”
Augustus Lonsdale, Windstar’s Head of Sales UK & Ireland, adds: “With the majority of UK bookings including our All Inclusive Upgrade, the Sail Beyond Ordinary promotion is really important for our UK and Irish trade partners as it not only demonstrates our flexibility but also the great value that it provides.
Yacht Club Member discounts are for returning Windstar guests. With double discounts on departures through 31st March 2025, they receive 10% off the published fare as an additional thank you for being a loyal guest. This is double the 5% standard discount.
Reduced deposits include the following:
With the majority of onboard amenities and expenses taken care of upfront, guests can spend their time enjoying uncrowded coastal destinations, award-winning cuisine and off-the-beaten-path optional shore excursions. The offer is available on all of Windstar's six yachts, from the luxurious all-suite Star Class to the classic masted Wind Class sailing vessels.
Top 2024 and Q1 2025 destinations include French Polynesia, where the line sails year-round and is the small ship expert; Iceland, where Windstar circumnavigates the country; Canada and New England, where Windstar perfectly times sailings for maximum autumn colours; and uncrowded and unique winter Mediterranean ports like Valencia and Catania. Caribbean, Panama Canal and Costa Rica sailings are popular winter getaway destinations for beach fun and sun.

MARELLA CRUISES ANNOUNCE A CRUISE FIRST WITH LIFE SIZE ELEPHANT PUPPET SHOW ‘JUMBO AND THE WONDER CIRCUS’
Marella Cruises has announced its latest entertainment programme onboard Marella Discovery 2 with acts to entertain all ages including the cruise-debut of a life-size elephant puppet in ‘Jumbo and The Wonder Circus’’. The West-End style show takes inspiration from ‘War Horse’, ‘Life of Pi’ and ‘My Neighbour Totoro and starts this June. The show ‘Jumbo and The Wonder Circus’ was created by RWS Global and the puppet is made from specialist lightweight materials, which allows flexible lifelike movements from his trunk, legs and head. It was crafted to replicate a full-sized African elephant which stands at 2.16m high, 2.9M long and 1M wide.
The heartfelt tale is set in a vintage circus and follows the story of Jumbo the Elephant and his relationship with Madame Rose who owns the circus. The story follows the circus acts, as they come together to save Jumbo and bring him home after he runs away after being spooked. With authentic bespoke
costuming, traditional circus set designs and aerial performances, the show is set to special arrangements of well-known hits from modern bands such as Coldplay, Katy Perry, Paloma Faith and U2.
Other shows which will debut on Marella Discovery 2 are ‘Yellow Submarine’’, which celebrates and remixes The Beatles iconic tracks with a giant inflatable yellow submarine, quirky set designs with psychedelic 60s costumes; ‘Hollywoodland’’ a love story which follows an ambitious actor who wants to make it in Hollywood and includes music from films from ‘La La Land’ and ‘Singin’ in the Rain’; and finally ‘7 Sins of Rock’, which showcases rock classics from Pink, Muse, Oasis and Aerosmith.
Chris Hackney, Managing Director, Marella Cruises:
“We’re always looking to refresh our entertainment on board, and with ‘Jumbo and the Wonder Circus’,
the life-size puppet will be a first for a cruise line to be showcasing such an act, along with the other shows coming to Marella Discovery 2.
Our new West-End style entertainment will give customers a new range of entertainment to enjoy when they’re on board our ship.”
Sarah-Lou Twist, Creative Director for RWS Global said:
“RWS Global is thrilled to be pushing boundaries when it comes to new productions on the Marella Cruises fleet. We understand that theatre shows are a big part of the cruise experience for the guests, so we aim to bring fresh and innovative concepts to
stage that rival the quality of entertainment seen in the West End and on Broadway. “By working with our expansive team who are the best in the industry when it comes to track production, scenic design, costumery and creative, we are proud to offer these exclusive shows to the Marella Cruises that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world!”

MARELLA CRUISES LAUNCHES INDUSTRY FIRST MICROPLASTIC FILTER INITIATIVE TO SUPPORT
THE PREVENTION OF OCEAN POLLUTION
Marella Cruises and Cleaner Seas Group are launching an industry first initiative with a six-month trial in microplastic capture aboard the Marella Explorer.
Marella Cruises has installed two groundbreaking INDIKON filters onto the Marella Explorer ship’s crew laundry system for the trial to prevent affecting delicate ecosystems and marine life from plastic microfibres.
The INDIKON is a washing machine filter, engineered by Cleaner Seas Group, that can be fitted to existing washing machines for microplastic capture from the machine’s water waste. By trialling the filters on the ship, the partnership will take on the biggest ocean microplastic polluter: microfibres from laundry wastewater[1] by working with the University of Surrey to monitor and measure the microplastics captured on board the ship. Through the trial, Cleaner Seas Group will adapt any filter technology based on the University of Surrey’s findings from the trial and provide long term filter solutions in microplastic capture.
Marella Cruises will review the results of the six-month trial before rolling out the INDIKON filters across the entire fleet of ships; Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2, Marella Explorer, Marella Explorer 2 and the newest ship to the fleet, Marella Voyager.
Olivia Wells, Sustainability Manager at Marella Cruises said: “We are committed to finding ways to further look after the natural environment in which our ships sail. By working with Cleaner Seas Group during this six-month trial as an industry first initiative, we believe that it will support future studies on preserving and protecting oceans.”
Dave Miller, CEO at Cleaner Seas Group said: “We are thrilled to be working on this ocean conservation initiative with Marella Cruises. By collaborating with one of the largest cruise lines in the UK, we hope to set a new course in microplastic capture prevention at sea.
Throughout this groundbreaking trial, we will work with the University of Surrey to monitor and measure the rates of microplastics captured in the INDIKON filters, whilst simultaneously working with our innovation team to apply and adapt our filtration technology for the cruise industry.”

There are three new itineraries: a five-night sailing, Windmills & Waterways, in April 2025 in the Netherlands for Keukenho Gardens, with the addition of historic Hoorn as a new port of call.
Sail the Southern Rhine is a six-night sailing visiting Germany & Switzerland, and finally Danube Gems, a seven-night sailing which calls at some smaller ports of call along the Danube, perfect for customers who have already ticked off the bigger cities. TUI Maya and TUI Skyla will sail on the Danube whilst TUI Isla will operate on the Main, Moselle and the Rhine, all offering various durations from three night to 15-night sailings.
Head of River Cruises Katy Berzins says: “We’re so excited that TUI River Cruises are expanding. We’ve gone from the European waterways of the Rhine, Danube, Main and Moselle to our recently announced sailings on the Nile and now we get to offer our customers the chance to experience the Douro. Coupled with the option of TUI Flying means that we can truly own the end-to-end Customer Experience.”

Luxury boutique cruise line SeaDream Yacht Club will upgrade its entire fleet with shore power connectivity, enabling zero emissions in ports. Being able to connect to shoreside electricity enables the yachts to turn off their engines and reduce emissions to zero in ports that offer shore power facilities. The upgrades make SeaDream Yacht Club the first luxury cruise line to retrofit its entire fleet with shore power connectivity.
“This is a significant milestone and an important step in our journey to more sustainable cruising,” said Andreas Brynestad of SeaDream Yacht Club.
SeaDream II successfully underwent the upgrade during a recent planned yard-stay at Naval Rocha Yard in Lisbon, Portugal. Identical sister ship SeaDream I will be upgraded during her planned yard stay in April 2024.
“Visiting some of the most beautiful and spectacular destinations on the planet comes with a responsibility. We are committed to having a positive impact in the communities and destinations we visit. Our employees, our guests, and our partners are all an important part of our ambition to inspire more sustainable travel,” said Brynestad.
Since founding modern yacht cruising in 2001, SeaDream Yacht Club has shaped and defined boutique cruising as the antithesis of mass tourism. The recent upgrade of shore power capabilities marks the latest in a decades-long commitment to sustainability in luxury travel.
SeaDream’s yachting itineraries are optimized for slower speed and lower fuel consumption, significantly reducing fuel consumption and emissions compared to traditional cruises.
SeaDream was the first luxury cruise line to ban the use of cheap, polluting heavy fuel oil (HFO). Since 2013, the company has powered its yachts with lighter, less polluting fuel, significantly reducing emissions.
More than a decade ago, SeaDream Yacht Club was the first cruise line to introduce a full plant-based menu. Offering the widest selection of plant-based alternatives at sea, as well as sourcing more goods locally and minimising food waste, substantially contributes to a reduced carbon footprint.
SeaDream Yacht Club was the first luxury cruise line to eliminate unnecessary single-use plastic across the fleet, replacing plastic items with more sustainable options or removing single-use items altogether.
All SeaDream guests receive a personalised glass bottle, which can be refilled at water stations across the yachts, significantly reducing the number of plastic water bottles. In addition, biodegradable, organic luxury bath amenities from Elm Organics Norway are available in all staterooms and suites.
All SeaDream Yacht Club voyages include late-night departures, often with overnight stays, aiming to maximise time spent in port for deeper cultural immersion and enhance local value creation for local communities and businesses.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel with a 57-year history of breaking boundaries, celebrated the christening of Norwegian Viva, the Company’s highly anticipated newest vessel and the second ship in the award-winning Prima Class.
“To christen Norwegian Viva in Miami is incredibly special to many of us at NCL, not only because Miami is our hometown, but also because we can share this moment with our local family and friends,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Launching a ship is no solo endeavor. I am overwhelmed with gratitude towards the entire NCL team, our partners and especially our amazing crew who have contributed to bringing Norwegian Viva to life and who care for and deliver exceptional vacation experiences for our guests.”
Following Norwegian Viva’s debut this past August and its inaugural summer season of European voyages, over 1,500 guests joined the christening ceremony held in the Company’s LEED® Gold Certified terminal at PortMiami in November. The Prima Class is committed to breaking new ground in ship design and amenities, reflecting Norwegian Cruise Line’s unwavering dedication to putting the guest and onboard experience at the forefront.
“As a Company, it has been a milestone year with the debut of next-generation ships across all three of our best-in-class cruise brands, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises,” said Harry Sommer, president & chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “The addition of Norwegian Viva further elevates our world-class fleet, providing our valued guests with another incredible way to vacation, discover new experiences and create unforgettable memories. Luis Fonsi, Norwegian Viva’s godfather and GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, officially named and christened the vessel with the ceremonial champagne bottle break across the ship’s hull which signifies good fortune and safe travels for all who sail aboard. As a native Puerto Rican, who is also based in Miami, Fonsi embodies the vibrant energy guests can enjoy aboard Norwegian Viva with warm-weather itineraries spanning from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean.
The celebration continues through the evening with an unparalleled and next-level entertainment lineup headlined by Fonsi performing his award-winning and global chart-topping hit “Despacito,” among his other beloved Latin hits like “No Me Doy Por Vencido” and “Échame La Culpa.” Other talented performers with authentic Miami and Latin roots are taking the stage, including "Saturday Night Live" cast member and Miami-native, Marcello Hernandez; the Queen of Latin Pop, Paulina Rubio; and recently announced GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist, Pedro Capó.
“It is so exciting to celebrate the magnificent Norwegian Viva in true Latin-style in Miami and alongside fellow A-list Latino entertainers,” said Luis Fonsi, award-winning global artist. “We are giving her a proper despedida before she makes her debut in my hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico.”
Norwegian Viva’s christening festivities also included the unveiling and dedication of the Knut Kloster Hall, a newly added installation at the NCL Terminal that pays homage to the Company’s founder, Knut Kloster, and colourfully shares details on NCL’s 57-year history of innovation in the cruise industry.
At 294 meters long with the capacity for 3,099 guests, Norwegian Viva has unique, thrilling activities including the three-story Viva Speedway; elevated offerings such as Indulge Food Hall, an open-air food market featuring 11 unique eateries; and an awe-inspiring art collection with stand-out pieces including British digital artist Dominic Harris’ 52-foot-wide interactive work of art named “Every Wing has a Silver Lining” installed at the Metropolitan Bar.
Following the inaugural sailing and select voyages from Miami, the ship will reposition to San Juan, Puerto Rico and be the newest ship to homeport in the destination when she arrives on 15th December, 2023. Through March 2024, Norwegian Viva will offer port-intensive seven-day Caribbean voyages, where guests will wake up each day in a new tropical island paradise with calls to Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. John's, Antigua; Bridgetown, Barbados; Castries, St. Lucia; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands with no days at sea.
In April 2024, Norwegian Viva will return to sail Mediterranean and Greek Isles itineraries that offer an unmatched opportunity to experience the beauty and culture of Europe. The world's largest cruise line will follow up Icon's debut, the start of a new era of holidays, in the boldest way. With the combination of every kind of holiday that's unique to Icon Class – from the beach retreat to the resort escape and the theme park adventure – the lineup of new experiences and favorites on Star will set the stage for even more ways for every type of family and adventurer to make memories without compromise. Currently under construction in Turku, Finland, the new ship and its features will soon be revealed.
"The idea of combining the best of every type of vacation into one ultimate adventure has created more excitement than ever anticipated, and Star of the Seas will be the next bold answer to the record-breaking consumer demand we've seen for nearly a year and counting with Icon of the Seas," said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.
The first look at Icon and Icon Class set the tone in October 2022 when it led to the cruise line's single largest booking day and highest volume booking week in the brand's then 53-year history. The unprecedented consumer demand sparked Royal Caribbean to release 2025-2026 holidays on Icon three months ahead of schedule and now Star's name and debut season. Icon's highlights include six record-breaking waterslides at Thrill Island's Category 6 waterpark, seven pools – one for every day of the week; Surfside, a stay-all-day neighbourhood for young families; entertainment across air, ice, water and stage; 40-plus ways to dine and drink; and more.
Star will also mark another step in this new era as the cruise line's third ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), combining the use of the cleanest-burning marine fuel available to date with a proven lineup of industry-leading environmental programs on board. With applications ranging from waste heat recovery systems to shore power connection, Royal Caribbean's most sustainable ship will advance parent company Royal Caribbean Group's journey to introducing a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.

Whilst You Are Away
When you arrive home, have a check around for any bugs before unpacking, look for reddish brown bugs, white eggs and dark spots (which is normally their faeces)
Keep Your Luggage on the Ground
Use the luggage rack which is normally provided to keep your bags off the floor, bed bugs tend to live in carpets. Do not put your bags or cases on the bed or chairs.
When You Return Home
When you return from your trip away from home, do not take your suitcase upstairs and unpack it on your bed - this is literally the worst thing you can do! If a few bed bugs have found their way into your case they will jump straight into your bed and start to multiply. Unpack your bag on a hard floor in a well lit area, this way you can see any bugs that may have come along on the ride with you. Pop your clothes straight into the washing machine, add a laundry cleanser or white vinegar and use the hottest cycle you can. IF you do notice bugs when unpacking, keep the clothes you aren’t washing in the case or a sealed bag and pop in the garage/shed until you are ready to wash them. Do not leave them in the house! Once your clothes have been taken care of, use a torch to thoroughly check your luggage, check the pockets and seams for bugs and eggs
.
Vacuum inside your luggage and spray the inside with a disinfectant spray. Be sure to empty the hoover cannister into an outdoor bin to prevent captured bed bugs from re-infesting your home. If you have a hard-shell case, you can wash this over with hot soapy water and if you have a soft case break out the steam cleaner and give it a blast with hot steam.
How to Prevent them in Your Bed
Keep your bedroom clutter free, bed bugs love dark cluttered spaces, and can easily hide in mess. If you keep your laundry hamper in your bedroom, make sure you give it a regular clean, bed bugs love the smell of dirty clothes, and have been known to lay eggs in laundry hampers. Fabric hampers normally come apart and can be washed. Plastic ones can be washed over with hot soapy water. Regularly wash your bed sheets at a high temperature. When you change your sheets, vacuum the mattress and surrounding frame.
Keep your mattress clean. Deal with any stains as and when they occur. Hydrogen peroxide is the best mattress stain remover as it is a natural bleach, a few times a year deep clean your mattress using an upholstery cleaning tool or a steam cleaner. Try not to use the underneath or your bed unless you have an ottoman bed as a storage solution, as this will create clutter for them to live in. Avoid wearing shoes in your bedroom. Vacuum your carpet and rugs regularly.
If you suspect you have bed bugs, it is vital to address promptly. Consult with a pest control company who will eliminate the problem. Early detection is key and will prevent a full-blown infestation.
